ABOUT THE PROJECT
MAD PROJECT — Meaningful · Artistic · Diverse is an ongoing curatorial and collaborative platform initiated by Arisara Dangprapai / Arisara Studio, bringing together neurodiverse artists with designers, craftspeople, brands, manufacturers, cultural organizations, and creative communities.
MAD PROJECT begins with artistic potential rather than limitation. It recognizes artists for their distinctive creative abilities, perspectives, and individual artistic languages, while acknowledging that some may have fewer opportunities for their work and potential to be seen and recognized within wider creative and public contexts.
The project creates a space where these artistic voices can be expressed, developed, and connected with wider audiences, creative professionals, and new contexts. Through a continuing series of exhibitions and collaborations, each edition evolves through different questions, themes, and participants while maintaining this central approach.
COLLABORATIVE PROCESS
Rather than simply applying an artist’s work to a product, each collaboration begins with individual ways of seeing and expressing — from lines, colors, gestures, rhythms, and forms to personal ways of communicating.
These artistic languages are interpreted through different materials, skills, and production contexts, bringing artists into dialogue with diverse creative fields — from ceramics, furniture, textiles and rugs to food, pewter, scent, recycled leather, illustration, and fashion accessories.
The outcomes may take the form of objects, products, installations, exhibitions, or shared experiences, but the process remains open: interpretation, experimentation, and co-creation across different creative disciplines.
As MAD PROJECT has evolved, its themes have also expanded beyond the production of objects to explore communication, friendship, relationships, and connection — considering how art can become a way for people with different perspectives and ways of expressing themselves to encounter one another.
CONNECTION & POSSIBILITY
Beyond the works themselves, MAD PROJECT brings together people and organizations from different parts of society — families, artists, designers, craftspeople, private companies, public institutions, cultural organizations, and creative communities.
These collaborations create opportunities for artistic potential to become more visible, while connecting people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet, exchange knowledge, and create together.
The value of MAD PROJECT therefore lies not only in what is produced, but also in the visibility, participation, relationships, and new possibilities that emerge through the process.
